Tonsillitis Treatment

Treating tonsillitis with medicinal throat paints and sprays is both harmful and suppressive. It does not help to eliminate the system of the toxins, which are the root of the trouble and forces these toxins back into the system, which may cause more serious trouble later on. The correct way to treat the condition is to cleanse the system of toxic waste through proper nutritious diet and other natural methods.

Serious symptoms should subside after a 5-day fast. Nothing but water and orange juice should be taken during this time and the bowels should be cleansed daily with a warm-water enema. A cold pack should be applied to the throat at 2-hour intervals during the day by saturating a linen cloth with cold water, wringing out the excess liquid, then wrapping it two or three times around the throat and covering it with a flannel material.

Gargle several times daily with lemon juice. A solution made from fenugreek seeds is very effective in severe cases. To make this gargle solution, two tablespoonfuls of fenugreek seeds should be allowed to simmer for half an hour in a liter of water and then set aside to cool. The entire quantity should be used for beneficial results. A hot Epsom salt bath, taken every day or every other day, will also be beneficial.

After the acute symptoms of tonsillitis are over, the patient should adopt an all-fruit diet for a further four days. Three meals of fresh, juicy fruits such as apples, grapes, grapefruit, oranges, pears, pineapple, peaches and melons may be most effective. The juice of fresh pineapple is most valuable in an all throat affliction. After the all-fruit protocol, the patient should eat a well-balanced diet such as:

Breakfast: Fresh fruits, or grated raw carrot or any other raw salad and milk.

Lunch: Steamed vegetables, as obtainable and whole wheat chapattis. Vegetables like bitter gourd and fenugreek are especially beneficial.

Dinner: A good-sized raw salad of vegetables as obtainable sprouts seeds as mung beans and alfalfa seeds, wholemeal bread, and butter or cottage cheese. Raw vegetable juices are also valuable in the treatment of tonsillitis. The most beneficial combination of vegetables is carrot 300 ml., beet 100 ml. and cucumber 100 ml.

Removal of the tonsils via surgery is necessary only in very rare cases such as when tonsils are seriously damaged and contain hopelessly incurable pus pockets.
